Rosette Sizes Explained
This page works very well because people often search “what size rosette do I need” when organising events.
Rosette Sizes Explained
Rosettes are available in a wide range of sizes, from small award rosettes suitable for school events through to large championship rosettes used at major competitions.
Choosing the right size depends on the type of event, the level of award and how you would like the rosettes to appear when presented.
Centre Size
The centre of the rosette is the round area that usually contains the printed design or logo.
Common centre sizes include:
- 45–50mm centres– often used for smaller rosettes
• 68–70mm centres – a popular standard size for many award rosettes
• 89mm centres – larger centres often used for championship rosettes
Larger centres allow more space for logos, event names or class information.
Number of Ribbon Layers (Tiers)
Rosettes can be made with different numbers of ribbon layers. These are sometimes referred to as tiers.
Typical options include:
- Single tier rosettes– simple awards, participation prizes or fun events
• Two tier rosettes – common for many competitions
• Three tier rosettes – often used for higher placing awards
• Four or more tiers – usually reserved for championships or special prizes
More tiers generally create a larger and more impressive rosette.
Tail Length
The tails are the ribbon lengths that hang below the rosette centre.
These can vary depending on the style of rosette and the level of award.
Tails are often printed with information such as:
- Event name
• Competition class
• Award title
• Date or location
Longer tails tend to be used for championship rosettes or special awards.
Choosing the Right Size
When planning an event, many organisers choose a mixture of rosette sizes.
For example:
- Smaller rosettes for class placings
• Medium rosettes for category winners
• Larger rosettes for championships or best in show
This helps highlight the most important awards while keeping a consistent look across the event.
If you are unsure which sizes to choose, we are always happy to help recommend suitable options for your event.
